CoQ10 for Heart Health!

Advanced CoQ10, part of the new CardioCare line from Changes, is designed to optimize heart health and contains the coenzyme called CoQ10. CoQ10 is necessary for the production of energy in the body, meaning it is essential for many biological processes. It helps produce energy by stimulating the mitochondria (energy powerhouses) in body cells. This is why, initially, CoQ10 was looked at as a weight loss aid.

While energy production may be a by-product of CoQ10 supplementation, the effects of CoQ10 in heart disease have been researched and shown to be beneficial in several studies. BUT WHAT IF I DON' T HAVE HEART DISEASE?

Although it is most well known for its documented beneficial effects in relation to cardiovascular diseases, CoQ10 has actions that go far beyond the heart. For example, in humans, CoQ10 levels decline with age. This is significant because evidence suggests that a vast number of diseases, including muscular dystrophy, Alzheimer' s disease, Parkinson' s disease, neurological disorders, and even certain cancers, may respond well to CoQ10 supplementation, and indeed may be associated with a CoQ10 deficiency.

Research has also shown a strong tendency towards reduced immune function when plasma levels of CoQ10 are depleted. In both normal and immune-depressed individuals, administration of CoQ10 has improved numerous parameters of immune response.

CoQ10 also appears to be a powerful antioxidant. It even promotes periodontal health. In fact, a major campaign advertising toothpaste with CoQ10 as an active ingredient has recently begun airing nationwide. There is also some evidence that it may reduce the muscle damage associated with intense physical activity. In short, CoQ10 may well be a very important and versatile nutrient.

In a study performed at Monash University Department of Medicine in Victoria, Australia, CoQ10 was shown substantially more bioavailable when using the Tru-Sorb technology versus the standard (crystalline) technology. This study was published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
